Category C (Class 2) Training
For rigid HGVs up to 32 tonnes – box vans, tippers, skips, refuse vehicles, local delivery.
Typical course (for car licence holders):
- HGV medical & DVLA provisional application
- Theory tests (Multiple Choice + Hazard Perception)
- Practical training (3–5 days depending on ability)
- Module 3a (reversing) + Module 3b (on-road test) at our Gaerwen site
- Optional Driver CPC Modules 2 & 4
Upgrade from car licence: Most candidates ready to test within 1 week of practical training.
Category CE (Class 1) Training
For articulated lorries and large combinations – long-distance haulage, trunking, containers.
Two routes:
- C to CE upgrade (if you already have Category C): 3-4 days practical training
- Direct fast-track from car licence: Includes Cat C training first, then CE – 3-4 days total
Includes:
- Coupling/uncoupling practice
- Extended reversing manoeuvres (Module 3a)
- On-road driving test (Module 3b)
- Full CPC support
