Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to drive a bus or coach with more than 8 passenger seats for hire or reward, including:
- Local service buses

What you can drive with Category D:
- Any bus or coach with more than 8 passenger seats
- With a small trailer up to 750kg (for larger trailers you’ll need D+E – ask us for details)

The Training Process – Step by Step
1. Get in Touch

We’ll then recommend the best licence and CPC route for you.
2. Medical & Provisional Application
You complete a PCV medical with a doctor.
We explain the DVLA forms and help you apply for your provisional D entitlement.
3. Theory Tests
We guide you through booking and preparing for:
- Multiple Choice theory test
- Hazard Perception test
- Driver CPC Module 2 (if you need Initial CPC)
4. Practical Training at Our Gaerwen Site
Once you have passed the theory tests, we arrange your practical course:
- Vehicle familiarisation and safety checks
- Town, rural and dual carriageway driving
- Passenger‑friendly driving style (smooth braking, good anticipation)
- Off‑road manoeuvres (Module 3a)
- Test preparation at our DVSA‑approved site in Gaerwen
5. Practical Tests
You’ll use our training vehicle for:
- Module 3a – Off‑road manoeuvres
- Module 3b – On‑road driving test
